Fisker has announced that they are now taking pre-orders on the Karma-S hard-top convertible, due to hit the streets in 2011 and debuting in street-ready prototype form at the Detroit Auto Show next January (2009).
Fisker Karma Debuts New Television Ad During Oscars

Fisker televised its new ad for the Karma during the Oscars. The ad features Henrik Fisker himself talking about the car as well as shots of the car in action. The ad focuses on the car’s style and looks and uses the term “eco chic” to describe it. To steal a phrase from Paris Hilton… “That’s hot.”

NAIAS Detroit Auto Show Roundup

I know, the NAIAS Detroit Auto Show isn’t actually over. In fact, only the press show is done, the public show starts this weekend. All of the major announcements that were going to be made, all of the cars that were going to be debuted, and all of the pontifications on how such-and-such company promises to be this-that-or-the-other in the future have been grandstanded. Plant Closures for Prius and Volt, Bankruptcy for Others

Toyota has suspended construction on their new plant in Blue Springs, Michigan indefinitely. The plant was meant to build the Prius for the North American market, starting with the new 2010 model. “Due to the uncertainty in the market, it is impossible to say at this time when production will begin,” Toyota’s official statement says.

Fisker’s Karma Electric Hybrid Sedan

Fisker made some big splashes when their Karma Electric Sedan, which definitely gives Tesla’s Roadster a run for its money in style, debuted in a big way at a Detroit auto show. The car, designed by the famous Fisker Design Group in Irvine, California, in that incarnation was a hybrid-electric four-door sedan-styled sports car. It got rave reviews in several automotive magazines.
