In November last year, Renault-Nissan and Sonoma County, California announced a partnership to promote the adoption of EVs and a charging infrastructure in the county. The county has an aggressive plan to have 1,000 EVs on the road by next year.

London Parking Company Auctions Off 50 EV Parking Spots

The National Car Park (NCP) is auctioning off 50 electric vehicle charging parking points across London. The auction is for one year’s use of a reserved parking space with an EV charging unit. Winners can choose their spots from a provided list and bidding is being done online.

Better Place Secures $133.8M Financing for Danish EV Charging Network

Better Place, the California-based electric vehicle infrastructure company that is currently building EV charging networks in California, Oregon, and Hawaii, has announced today that they have secured a round of financing to the tune of $133.8M to build an EV charging network in Denmark.

Colorado Man Offers Free Electric Vehicle Charging on his Solar Farm

Talk about a good neighbor: A Colorado man has recently started to offer free electric vehicle charging services on his El Jebel ranch. Jim Duke has always been a bit of an environmentalist and community activist - back in the 80s he spearheaded efforts to establish recycling and composting programs for Aspen and surrounding communities.

Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure company Coulomb Technologies has just announced that they have received a first round of funding to the tune of $3.75M dollars. The Campbell, CA company has said the round was let by Berlin, Germany-based Estag Capital AG.

First ChargePoint Public EV Charging Stations Open in San Jose, CA

Coulomb, which makes ChargePoint electric vehicle charging stations, has launched its first set of stations in its San Jose, California network. Called “Smartlets,” these parking meter-like poles allow EV owners to park, plug in, and re-charge their vehicles. We covered these Smartlets not too long ago.

Subaru, Better Place, and Japan Team Up to Create Electric Vehicle Charging Network in Japan

Subaru has the R1e (Stella) all-electric car that they’ve been testing in New York, but haven’t announced any plans to sell yet. Many have wondered why they’re holding off. The answer may have been announced now: Subaru, Better Place, and the Japanese government have all come together to announce that they will be be teaming up to build an electric vehicle infrastructure in Japan, starting in Yokohama.

ChargePoint Public Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles

Until you sit down and really think about it, charging an electric car from a public charging station seems like a pretty simple concept. Then you start to realize that things like vandalism, theft, billpoints, and other stuff starts to come into play. So saying a public electric vehicle charging station is as easy as plug it in, give it your credit card, and walk away is like saying an ATM is just a machine that you say “gimme money” to and it spits it out.
