New Indiana Plant to Make Lithium-Ion Battery Packs Commissioned

EnerDel officially commissioned America’s first commercial-scale production plant for lithium-ion automotive battery packs in Indiana. EnerDel (a subsidiary of Ener1) makes the batteries in the Think City, but has now signed an agreement with Fisker Auto (makers of the Karma).

EEStor Achieves Milestone in Superbattery Development
Not long ago, we reported a new patent receipt by EEStor for their “superbattery” unit, called the EESU, that was supposed to revolutionize the battery electric vehicle (BEV) industry. These use a special powdered form of barium titanate with an aluminum coating in their make.

Kentucky the Choice For Li-ion Plant From NATTBatt

The National Alliance for Advanced Transportation Batteries (NATTBatt) has selected Glendale, Kentucky as its choice of locations to build a manufacturing campus. NATTBatt is a consortium of more than fifty corporations, associations, and research institutions involved in advanced lithium-ion battery cells for transportation.

Battery Technology Breakthrough Could Revolutionize Electric Vehicles

Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have developed battery cells capable of taking on a charge in under a minute, which is a rate 100 times faster than standard rechargeable batteries.

Ford Announces EV Battery Partner

Ford has announced a partnership with Johnson Controls to develop an advanced lithium-ion battery system for Ford’s Escape PHEV and other electric and hybrid electric vehicles. The cells will be built at Johnson’s facility in France, but the systems will be assembled in the U.S. for use in vehicles here.
