Detroit: Smart ED Electric Smart Car Coming to America Soon

The Smart Car called the “ED” (Electric Drive), made by Daimler, is gaining ground on the European market as a smart urban commuter. The name will be changed, since ED has other Viagra-related connotations for English-speakers, but the car will likely be the same. It’s just a question of when this little EV hits the American market.

Chrysler Pulls a Rabbit Out of Its Hat at the Detroit Auto Show: The 200C PHEV Concept

It was a surprise to everyone but the Executive VP of Product Development of Chrysler, who showed off the new PHEV. This is a realistic, sell-able concept car that Chrysler is showing off as the future of their “Project D” line (green vehicles).

The Mercedes BlueZERO Concept Trio Debuts In Detroit

Mercedes has introduced a trio of concept cars they’re calling BlueZERO. All three look the same, but are powered differently. The body and chassis frame are modular, accommodating one of three drive trains. The car design itself is a four-seater wagon that looks similar to a small Nissan or Honda wagon.

Toyota to Launch 10 New Hybrids and New Electric Car Within 3 Years

Eager to keep the top spot in the world’s hybrid car sales market, Toyota has announced that they will be offering 10 new hybrid models by 2011 and an all-electric commuter car in 2012. The first big development, though will be the plug-in Prius’ early release this year.
