The Electric El Camino Is a Reality

Let’s say that you’re a guy who’s cut off his mullet in favor of a cupiehawk and you are fond of the days when the El Camino ruled the road and War’s “Low Rider” was the song of the day. But you also want an electric car and have killer restoration, modification, and do-it-yourself skills.

Chevy Volt’s Price Will Depend on Gasoline

In a truly GM-styled move, the upcoming Volt’s price will be based not on business dynamics, it’s cost versus consumer demand, or anything else remotely market-based or based in sound business principle.

Bush Bails Out The Big 3 Losers

Worried that $78/hour UAW workers would be out of a job, President George W. Bush agreed to bypass Congress’ decision and give Ford, Chrysler, and GM $17.4 billion in bailout money from the $700 billion earmarked to “save” the financial industry. No word on how the money will be split amongst the three pigs, but the money’s been dumped in the trough, so I guess we’ll soon find out.

Chevy Volt to Have Artificial Engine Noise

You can thank the lawyers for this concept. Chevrolet’s new Volt, the hybrid-EV coming out next year, will have “car sounds” added. Yep, the worry that blind or deaf people won’t hear it (yeah, they said “deaf people won’t hear it”–you can’t make this stuff up) and will get hit by a motorist, who will in turn sue Chevy for making a car that’s too quiet, caused the thinkers at General Motors to come up with a sound-producing speaker for the car.
