Bosch Says Electric Vehicles Won’t Become Pervasive for at Least 20 Years

Full electric power trains like battery electrics, hydrogen fuel cells, and so forth are coming, but slowly. Let’s face it: most of those on the market so far are nothing more than curiosities. The Tesla Roadster and the Aptera 2e, while they look really good and are desirable vehicles, aren’t exactly mainstream.

Video: Aptera on Jay Leno’s Garage

The Aptera 2e recently made an appearance on Jay Leno’s Garage and, apparently, an impression on the late night talk show host and car collector. It begins with Leno showing off one of the first electric cars made in the U.S. (from Leno’s personal collection) and proceeds with a walk-through of the 2e. Leno finally takes it out on the highway and gets it up to a smooth 70mph before parking it next to his Lear Jet for comparison.

Aptera 2e Goes Through First Crash Test And EXPLODES!

The Aptera 2e underwent the first in its series of crash tests for federal motor vehicle highway safety and exploded on impact this morning. Engineers say that they’ve never seen anything like it. “It went up in a huge fireball like it was full of jet fuel or something,” Mort Vladinsky, one of the engineers, said to the press.

Aptera 2e to Undergo Crash Testing

Refuting the claims that the Aptera is not as safe as other cars, Marques McCammon, Aptera’s Chief Marketing Officer, talked to Green Fuels Forecast. He emphasized that the 2e was not designed as a 3-wheeler to skirt safety requirements, but rather to improve efficiency.

Aptera is showcasing their new production model at the TED conference and has finally released the final spec list for the much-anticipated EV.

Aptera 2e Caught In The Wild (pics)

We’ve been covering the Aptera 2e for a while now at ZoomiLife, and have been dying to see more pics of the car - so far all that’s been available are Aptera’s official images. We figured that with Aptera’s release date so close, it was only a matter of time before more appeared on their website or in their newsletter. Well, it looks like we finally got our wish, but it wasn’t Aptera who came through, but an intrepid ApteraForum user known as apt2123h.

First Aptera 2e Rolls Out of the Factory

The first pre-production model Aptera 2e finally rolled off the factory floor, on time (finally). Scheduled to go into full production in October, this pre-production model shows off the real-world version of the stylish and unique Aptera for sure.
