A “genset” is a trailer that contains a generator and combustion engine for use as a range-extending module for electric vehicles. The idea is not new, but is not very popularized either. Considering some of the limitations of pure EVs, though, and the downsides to hybrids, a genset could be the answer.

Currently in production, “Revenge of the Electric Car” promises to cover all things plug-in vehicle related. From the giants of the auto industry to the DIY converters to the small startup manufacturer, the film promises to cover electric cars from top to bottom, inside and out.

A few years ago, Tom Hanks was pushing this company and then it suddenly just went poof. After an appearance on Letterman, a couple of videos on his Myspace page, and a few guest spots in newspapers and magazines, AC Propulsion and Tom Hank’s promotion of it suddenly disappeared.
