Not rhetorically either, the little Nanos are literally catching fire. Three Tata Nanos have caught fire, reportedly, because of a short circuit in a steering column switch. As a result, the world’s cheapest car is being recalled and current showroom models are being audited.
नैनो नैनो, नैनो में आग लगी है (Hindi, roughly translated: “the Nano, the Nano is on fire…”)
I guess when you pay your assembly line $0.50/hour and import knockoff parts from Hong Kong, this sort of thing could be expected. Right? Of course, an internal audit will probably find that the cars were made by UAW members on a Monday after a long weekend and just before a planned strike during “negotiations.”
