If President Obama signs the just-passed bill from Congress which mandates funding for the Department of Energy to fund three-wheeled vehicles like the Aptera 2e and Myers Motors NMG2 could be eligible for the same kind of loans Tesla Motors just received.
Big news for the electric car industry, many of who’s startups and innovators are using 3-wheel platforms.
For the rest of America? Well, I guess it’s just a tiny bit more inflation, so it won’t hurt. Right? These are loans, after all, and loans have to be, like, paid back and stuff. Don’t they? Even government ones?
On the up-side, this is a big kick in the nuggets for snoots like GM’s Greg Martin who called the Aptera a “novelty vehicle.” Unlike GM’s own Volt which is definitely not a plug-in Prius with a different logo.
The question I asked a couple of weeks ago still stands, though: Why is it the government’s job to hand out money to private enterprise again?
