Mission Motors debuted their Mission One concept at the TED conference in anticipation of the TTXGP. Now, the Mission One has broken the barrier by taking the AMA’s record for top speed for an electric motorcycle by hitting 150mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
The officially recorded speed was 150.059mph, but one unofficial warmup speed was clocked at 161mph.

It’s likely, the Mission Motors team asserts, that the speed record could be broken by the One at a future date. The conditions on the day of the recorded speed were less than optimal and the unrecorded 161mph was taken when the bike was running in much lower crosswinds than it faced when it broke the record officially.
Even better for those interested in the future of electric motorcycles: this record was broken with a production prototype, not a specialty bike made for racing or concept. The Mission One design on the Salt Flats is the same one that will be available for sale next year.

The record-breaking motorcycle was ridden by Jeremy Cleland (center-right, above), who you’ll remember was also on the team for Mission Motors’ TTXGP entry. Cleland is a recognized AMA and AFM racer and was more than impressed with the bike he’s been riding for Mission.
