Remember the Lightning? It’s the British contender for the Tesla Roadster, which we mentioned back in October ‘08. The Lightning GT, an electric sports car with the ability to compete with the Tesla Roadster on all fronts: speed, range, and price tag.
The Lightning GT is slated to hit the streets in 2010 at a mere £120,000. Although the company has been relatively quiet and has yet to produce a car for sale, they have emerged to make an announcement.
The Lightning Car Company, through its chairman Ian Sanderson, has announced their intention to also offer three other vehicles. All will be based on the GT’s drive train, but no solid date for release was given for those vehicles.

Those will be all-electrics, like the GT, and will include a high-end, chauffeur-driven car, an SUV, and a smaller sports car with similar style to the GT.
Of course, all of this is conjecture and while the company says it intends to build the GT as planned, the supplier for their 120kW motors (PML Flightlink) has bankrupted. This could put a wrinkle in the works, but that never stopped James Bond, so it may not be enough to stop this car that has enough style to be featured in any 007 film.
