The first of the electric Mini Coopers (called the Mini E) from BMW have been hitting the streets throughout the U.S. in recent weeks. One of the most notable of the first rollouts is the ones leased by the LA County Sheriffs Office.
Seventeen of the little Mini E cars will become Sheriff’s vehicles in a special deal with BMW. At only $10/month, the price is definitely right. BMW believes that with the deputies being professional drivers and with the number of miles they’ll be putting on the little Coopers, they’ll definitely get ther money’s worth in the feedback they receive.
Another (full price, $850/month) Mini E recipient, Mark Winkworth, is one of 450 people who’ll get one of the cars on a limited 12 month lease. Winkworth has started a blog to convey his experience to the world, which you can find at MINIwink.com.
What BMW will do with all that feedback is questionable, however, since the Mini E will never see production, according to the company.
