India’s Love Affair with Compressed Air Continues: The Air-Powered Motorcycle

So far, engineering students in India have created compressed-air powered mopeds, bicycles, and now a motorcycle. One Indian company claimed to have built a production-ready compressed-air car (which never materialized).
This latest is a 100cc motorcycle stripped of its engine and mounted with compressed air tanks and valves. The Air Bike’s head designer, Arshdeep Singh, says the bike was created when professors challenged students to build a totally non-emissions vehicle that had not been tried before.
The viability of this bike on the market is not likely, given it’s extremely limited range and speed, but it’s a fun idea all the same. The current version speeds up to 18km/h and travels about 2 miles on full tanks of air.
