The Royal College of Art has been at the forefront of futuristic and sustainable transport design in academic teaching for a long time. Every year, their students come up with new and innovative ideas for transportation.
The RCA recently teamed up with Opel/Vauxhall on a Vehicle Design Course asking students to predict what they think mobility will look like in 2050. The winning student gets to participate in a 3-month, hands-on learning experience with GM of Europe working with future technologies.
Pictured above was one of the honorable mention designs called the Opel Flow. This is a single-seat windsurfer that, when not moving, folds down to become a part of the cityscape as a small dwelling.

The winner was this D49 (aka Darwin 2049) which hovers just above the ground and seats 3 in comfort.
