Meet the ecoF3, a race car designed by a British Team. The car is made of vegetables and it runs on chocolate. Really, no foolin.
The car’s body is made of potatoes, its seat from soybeans, and the steering wheel from carrots. The lubricants for the engine are plant-oil based and the car runs on biodiesel made from chocolate and vegetable oil mixed. It’s capable of 145mph and will officially hit the track next month.
Of course, current racing regulations for Formula 1 don’t accommodate biofuels of the kind used here, so the car doesn’t meet regulations. The WorldFirst team, which designed and built the car, is lobbying to have those rules changed or excepted for the car. They want to enter it into next season’s circuit.
The team hopes that the technologies used to build this sustainable car will be utilized by future Formula 1 car makers and teams. WorldFirst is a design team from Warwick University in the UK.
