The all-electric BYD e6 crossover vehicle debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show today. It’s a step away from the usual designs BYD has offered so far. It includes the latest technology, which BYD’s CEO showcased a few days ago, with a 100% recyclable battery and can recharge to 50% in ten minutes.
This car’s battery packs can run for 400km (249 miles) on one charge and this is the first of a “complete lineup” of all-electrics BYD plans to introduce by the end of 2010. No word on whether they’re coming to the U.S. or when.
The car is capable of 0-60 in 8 seconds and has a top speed of about 100 miles per hour. Four power combinations are to be available: 75kW, 75+40kW (front-rear), 160kW, and 160+40kW (front-rear).

In all, this is an impressive prototype and we can’t wait to see it in America (fingers crossed).
