Two universities in the United Kingdom are entering the TTXGP zero-emissions motorcycle race and Kingston University is one of them. They’ve revealed the rough (but working) prototype of their entry and announced that they have signed Maria Costello, world-renowned motorcycle racer and the fastest woman ever around the TT course, as their rider.
The bike looks like it must be an older sport bike or racer that’s been converted. Lots of li-ion cells and a huge motor can be seen, however.
The bike, called the Populous, will race alongside over a hundred other entrants to the race. You can see from the cutaway photo below that the team looks to have put together a pretty serious machine. They say that they are now working on lightening the frame, body pieces, and components to further increase the bike’s efficiency.
