Well, this isn’t a Street Car Named Desire, but instead is an electric car named Stella. STELLA! It’s Subaru’s final specification version of their latest EV and it’s going to begin testing in Japan soon.
Made by Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru’s parent company), is the same as the gas-powered Stella, except for one important difference: it’s all electric this time. It’s a small 4-door hatchback and Subaru has produced 15 prototypes to test before the expected sale date later this summer. 170 units will be produced in 2009.
This newer version features a little more power than earlier test models, a re-vamped interior, and a lighter overall weight.
Five governmental agencies (both prefects and city) will be getting the EVs to test.
Here’s the short list of specs:
- 100km/h top speed
- 80km range per charge
- 47kW motor
- Litium-ion batteries
