Auto EV Japan plans to release the scooter for sales in May. The new scooter is called the Scarpina and will be available in a couple of models: 2 or 3-wheeled.
The two wheel version (shown here) is in the popular Japanese “Hello Kitty” style and the 3-wheeler (below) has two wheels in the back. The frame on this scooter is made up of two tubes bent into a half-moon.

The scooters will have two configurations for either model. The smaller one will have a 600W motor and require only a motorized bicycle license while the more powerful 1,000W model will require a motorcycle license to drive in Japan. The 3-wheeler is excepted, not being considered a “motorbike” and therefore requiring only an automobile driver’s license to operate.
The range on these is 30 to 50 miles per charge (the smaller motor, 2-wheeled getting the best) and the top speed is at the Japanese speed limit of 15mph for these vehicles.
Auto EV Japan has made no announcement regarding sales overseas, but the batteries and components are legal in the U.S. and most of Europe, so it could see a worldwide audience if the company decides to do so.
