World’s First Electricross Goes Off Without a Hitch - World Records Broken All Around

The Zero Motorcycle 24 Hours of Electricross event was held Saturday, April 4th in San Jose, California and featured 10 endurance bikes running for 24 hours of racing. All running only on electricity!
Zero Motorcycles, in hosting this event, managed to also gain a new world record by completing the first electric off-road 24-hour endurance event. In fact, there were two new Guiness Book of World Records set: furthest distance traveled on an electric off-road motorcycle (over 500 miles) and the largest electric motorcycle race (50 riders, 10 teams).
Way to go Zero!
This is a great event showcasing how electric vehicles are definitely coming of age (finally). The off road and motorcycle market is huge and there’s a lot of potential for EVs to capture big shares of it. All ten bikes in the motocross race managed to complete the entire event, though more than one suffered some wear and tear in the process. The winning team circled the track an amazing 1,015 times at an average of 27 miles per hour.
Wired Magazine fielded one of those teams and produced a great video for the event:
The official Zero Motorcycles video can’t be ignored either:
