As reported just yesterday, the Tesla S has unveiled and our friends at LeftLane were there to document it. If you missed the streaming video of the event, don’t worry. Plenty of photos are up on display over at LeftLane (a few of which are on this post).
Here are my own impressions of the car.

First, I was fairly disappointed. I expected a little more styling, but given a little thought, I think that the Model S is delivering exactly what people would expect from a vehicle of this type. It is, after all, a sedan, not a sports coupe like the Roadster is.
To my eye, there is very little that is totally unique in the styling here. It looks like most Mercedes, Jaguar, and similar sedans. As LeftLane points out, there are some Jaguar elements here for sure. For Tesla’s first in-house design, though, and for the target market it’s made for, I can say that it’s definitely a good fit and a job well done.

The interior, though…well, that’s just awesome. It’s full of style, looks to be extremely comfortable, and has a unique center console setup with a fair number of customization options. With the price tag it’s got (under $50,000 after tax incentives), it’s a good competitor to the Fisker Karma too. Especially with the S being all-electric.
