The World Car of the Year Awards (WCOTY) is a program organized and conducted by automotive journalists from around the world. Every year, they select their favorite vehicles in various categories, including Green (environmental).
The three finalists vying for the top spot this year are:
All three were selected from an impressive group of vehicles including the Mini-E, the Smart ED, five Volvo models, and many more. The list was kind of a who’s-who of green transportation right now, on the market today. It’s noted that while the Tesla Roadster is on the list, the Fisker Karma is not (it will be in production this year, so did not make this 2008 list for the 2009 award).
The final winner will be announced at the New York International Auto Show in April. Of the three Green finalists, the Toyota iQ is the only one to also be on the top 3 list for World Car of the Year, so it could win both awards simultaneously.
