Study Predicts 32.7 Million EVs by 2015, Aptera Wants 100,000 of Those

WinterGreen Research, Inc. has published a study guessing that by 2015, there will be 32.7 million electric vehicles on the road. The study is available for the low-low price of $3,400, so if anyone wants to purchase it and read its entirety, let us know. Our guess is that it’s including ALL EVs, not just cars.
WinterGreen has been publishing industry reports for technology industries since 1985 and has a decent track record of prediction, though this is their first step into truly electric transportation-centered prediction.
Aptera Wants 100,000 of Those
Aptera, meanwhile, has released a new photo showing off the “parking lot of the future” which features, of course, Apteras in every spot. The car company wants to ramp up production and have 100,000 Apteras on the road by 2015.
Of course, since Aptera hasn’t even delivered one production model to a customer yet, I’m a little dubious that they’ll be able to build over 16,666 cars per year until 2015. That’s a lot of sixes, though. Maybe there’s a hidden message there.
Anyway, everyone seems to have high hopes for the EV market and seems to think that in a very short amount of time, we’ll all be driving one. I’m not so sure, especially with car sales expected to be at decade lows this year and the economy making the big swirl towards the sewer.
