Last year, Ruf (the Porche high performance tuners) announced a prototype electric Porsche 911. The latest incarnation of that is the Greenster, a targa top 911 with several improvements: including electrics.

The car is pretty cool-looking, with the classic Porsche look, the chopped speedster windshield, etc. It’s already top of the line as-is, really, with lots of little improvements like LED lighting, leather interior, premium paint, high-end alloy wheels, and more. Then they added the EV components…

Holy crap, this thing might be a Tesla Roadster in Porsche form! It’s powered by a 270kW Siemens electric motor with a whopping 695lb-ft of torque. The batteries (located in the front trunk) are smaller and with higher capacity and this change also increases regenerative braking capacities. The batteries charge in only an hour from a 400v outlet.

No numbers yet for acceleration and performance, but they’re sure to be impressive. Ruf says they will be going to a twin motor version in the next version and they are planning to do a small production run of the series sometime in 2010.
