Fisker Automotive, whose Karma will be hitting the streets this fall, has announced a successful fundraising round of $3 million. The money will go towards purchasing partial ownership stock in an unnamed battery company, presumably to give Fisker more control over its supply chain.
By gaining partial ownership of a supplier, Fisker would, obviously, be able to get “first dibbs” on production and therefore more easily meet demand changes and so forth. This is a common move in any industry, especially when on-time delivery is crucial.
So despite downturns and problems in the industry overall, Fisker appears to be robustly moving forward with 2009 models already sold out and production on track to begin later this year.
