Shandong Baoya Vehicle Co. of China has announced that they have received 4,800 electric car orders originating in the U.S. and have already sent 500 cars as of January.
Called simply the Baoya Electric Car, the vehicle meets all safety standards as an NEV and has a top speed of 80km/h and a range of 150km per charge. The vehicles in question are a 4-wheeled sedan, the Chinese model being called the “XF5000ZK” (kind of a mouthful). The company also has a slightly larger “mini-van” style vehicle that may also be included in the total to be shipped.
These vehicles are being purchased by small fleets, local governments, and individuals. No word on the cost-per vehicle in U.S. Dollars, but the Chinese price is 35,000 yuan. The vehicles are made in the mainland and then batteries are installed and the vehicles ship from Hong Kong.
