Rinspeed to Unveil Electric Concept Car in Geneva

The upcoming Geneva Auto Show in March will feature another interesting concept car unveiling. This one, from Rinspeed (a Swiss carmaker), is called the iChange.
The name has a dual meaning, the first obviously having to do with the change from gasoline to electric (this concept is all-electric) in new car focus. The second refers to the car itself, which can “change” from a 1-seat sports car to a 3-seat semi-sedan. No, it’s not a transformer, but it is more than meets the eye.

Few specs are known on the iChange, but the basic tear drop shape of the 1-seater widens out into a more traditional sedan-shape with three seats when transformed. In sports mode, the car can do 0-60mph in a little over 4 seconds (about 4.2) with its 150kW motor.
The car is a four-wheeler and is really cool-looking with a great design. There are no doors, but the entire glass lid over the passenger compartment lifts up, fighter jet style. The interior is almost all wood details and features a centered driver’s seat.

This car is really sweet, though whether it ever really enters production is up to question. It’s top speed is 220km/h and its range is about 90km (136mph, 56 miles). It’s a rear-wheel drive with a 6-speed transmission and requires 3 hours to charge it’s LiFePO4 li-ions to full.
