Sufat Gas Scooter
Imagine riding an electric scooter that achieves 0-50 in less than ten seconds. Imagine trying to stay on the thing at those speeds, even.
Well, Sufat, Vietnam’s largest motorcycle manufacturer, claims that their new motor can do just that. They’re about to start production of a new range of electric scooter models that are powered by that motor. These scooters will do 0-80km/h in less than 10 seconds and will have top speeds of 80-88km/h as well.
The wheel-hub motors were developed by U.S. company KLD Energy Technologies (Texas) and are high-frequency, low-rpm motors that use a nano-crystalline material to more efficiently conduct heat. KLD is setting up an assembly plant in Hanoi to produce about 2,000 of the motors per month for Sufat. This will increase to 50,000 after the first year of production.
Vietnam already has 22 million scooters on the road and is seen as the worlds most lucrative market for electric scooters.
