OK, only half of that is true. This garbage truck in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England has no Flux Capacitor (or 1.21 GIGAWATTS!), but it is powered by garbage. Not directly, of course, but still literally.
Let me explain.
The all-electric garbage truck cruises around picking up recyclables and regular trash. This is then taken to a recycling center. The recyclables are, well, recycled, while the rest is incinerated. The incinerator produces 10 megawatts, some of which is used to recharge the garbage truck. The garbage truck then goes out and collects more garbage, brings it back to the incinerator…

The truck is a Smith Edison 3.5-tonne Transit with a 50mph top speed and a range of about 100 miles using its 40KWh lithium-ion battery pack.
Kind of a nice Karmic loop for the garbage, I’d say.
