Xtreme Green’s Sentinel Electric Police Mobility Vehicle

Think of it as a Segway with 3 wheels and better speed. Plus lights, sirens, and better offroad ability. That’s the Sentinel from Las Vegas-based Xtreme Green.
This “standing scooter” is aimed towards police and security forces who need greater mobility, quiet operation, and better options for traditional foot or bicycle patrol beats.
The little vehicles are only about 32 inches wide, so they’ll go through most doorways and down the sidewalk without crowding. They can traverse up to 8 inch curbs and have a range of about 80 miles per charge. They charge from any 110v outlet.
The greatest advantage of the Sentinel over bicycles is its relatively large storage spaces, allowing for a lot of emergency items and equipment to be carried that wouldn’t fit on a bike and definitely not while on foot.

It’s a direct-drive, so there are no belts to snap or jump off, and it has inflated tires and suspension to ease fatigue during a shift-long ride. It’s capable of speeds up to 29mph, though it’s mean to travel at standard “foot patrol” speeds of 3-6mph on average.
Other safety features include automatic parking brake setting when the vehicle is dismounted, hydraulic disc brakes, and 3,000+ charges on the battery pack without deterioration.
These are pretty cool little machines that might be what you see your local police department adopting for street/foot patrols. Too bad it didn’t come out fast enough to get featured in Mall Cop.
