British carmaker Bee Automotive has announced plans to revive the BRM brand after 60 years with the creation of a new, high-performance electric race car. Dubbed the BRM Bee Four, this all-electric racer is due to feature a new powertrain developed at Oxford University.
The BRM brand was founded after WWII by Raymond Mays and Peter Berthon. Together they formed the BRM racing brand and managed to win 17 GP’s, a Drivers’ Championship, and two Constructors’ Championships between 1954 and 1970.

The new BRM Bee Four electric race car is due to feature four electric motors, one in each wheel hub, which provide a total of 520 kW of power, or about 700hp. The BRM Bee Four is due to be completed by 2010, in time to compete in the Speed Hill Climbing Championships in the UK that year.
Bee Automobiles has a significant financial interest in the project as the company plans to use the race car as a gateway to a production electric vehicle to be launched in the near future.
