We’ve been covering the Aptera 2e for a while now at ZoomiLife, and have been dying to see more pics of the car - so far all that’s been available are Aptera’s official images. We figured that with Aptera’s release date so close, it was only a matter of time before more appeared on their website or in their newsletter. Well, it looks like we finally got our wish, but it wasn’t Aptera who came through, but an intrepid ApteraForum user known as apt2123h.

The Aptera enthusiast caught the 2e with it’s wheel covers off before a demo that Aptera folks were giving to “local elected officials and their staff.” While apt2123h couldn’t hang around for the demo and didn’t get much out of Aptera, he did find out a few things. “This particular vehicle is a pre-production vehicle. It does not have opening windows, and the trunk is different. The trunk lid on this vehicle opens to the side (though they wouldn’t open it to show), but the final vehicle opens the trunk lid at the top, more like a normal trunk.”

Aptera did confirm that there will in fact be a gas-only model. The technician said the price would be $28,000-$40,000, “depending on option”, but wouldn’t say what any of the options would be. Test drives will be available to people on the waiting list “later”. The first vehicles should be to the first people on the waiting list by October.
