The Pininfarina B0 (B Zero) Electric Car

Welcome to Italy. Yet another electric car will hit Italian streets in the near future. The Pininfarina B0 (B Zero) electric car debuted at the Paris Auto Show alongside its competitor, the Tazzari Zero, which was featured here not too long ago. This model has a few things the other “Zero” doesn’t.
First, it’s got a 153-mile range and goes 80mph. It’s not any faster than the Tazzari, though, doing 0-60 in about 12.5 seconds. It has advanced solar panels in the rooftop, however, which powers some of the car’s internals like climate control and battery cooling. They’re integrated really well and look almost as snazzy as the panels built into the Fisker Karma.

The car itself won’t win any beauty awards, but it’s not completely nerded out either. It’s an acceptable “mini-van” style design that most people won’t have a problem with. I especially like the short hood and long visibility the huge windscreen provides. This car is a four-door, so you can fit the family in there, but don’t bring any suitcases.
Pininfarina designed this car with the help of Bollore, whose electric power expertise is well-established. They’re best known for their capacitors. They are responsible for the excellent regenerative braking and battery life that this car boasts. The battery banks charge to full in about four hours.
The B0 goes into production late next year in Turin, Italy and will probably be limited in its first release to a couple of hundred, but as demand increases, the company plans to raise those numbers. It’s interesting to note that this car passes European safety standards, so will likely be able to pass North American standards as well. Why is that important? Because Bollore has a plant in Montreal, Canada, which could mean the cars could end up here too.
