Meet the Nexter (Not To Be Confused With Geekster)

Imagine a VW bus (the classic ones) that’s been smashed sideways so it only seats one in a row. That’s basically what the Nexter looks like. Only with alloy wheels to make it more “hip.”
The idea behind this machine is not new: make the vehicle half a lane wide so two can run abreast and park side-by-side in the same spot. The sliding doors accommodate that idea too. Sadly, the result is always the same: really, really lame-looking vehicles, often with stability problems.

They generally make up for those stability worries by making the vehicle shorter. That’s great if your 5-foot nothing, but for the rest of us, it sucks. If you’re still interested, though, here’s a couple of specs on the Nexter. If you’re geeky enough to drive it, you’re geeky enough to know the math to convert the metrics too.
- Uses lead-acid batteries for cheap exchange
- Range of 150km/charge
- Top speed of 90km/h
